Warriewood-Mona Vale Ocean Swim
Great Australian Swims - Coolangatta
A swim dominated by blueys...

Glistening Dave was at Mona Vale, at Bongin Bongin Bay at the northern end of the beach, for his morning constitutional. He found no blueys. And when he took his morning pics (see above and our photo gallery below), he saw no blueys. Lucky boy. We didn't find any blueys either, even though we stopped for a while off the last booee, where a lot of people were stung, it seems. This made three weeks in a row that blueys have been plaguing Sydney's beaches, but we didn't cop it. At North Bondi and Avalon, over the previous two weeks, not many others copped it, either.
Not so at Mona Vale. Pity. It was the clearest, warmest water we've had all season. Not an easy swim, but, heading into the chop, just off a direct line into it, all the way from Warriewood.

Scaredy git.

No, don't go out there... there are blueys out there, please don't go...
Up at Coolangatta, we heard good reports about their day in the second of the Great Australian Swim Series, postponed after the heavy seas post-floods last weekend. Round 3 of the Great Australian Swim Series is in Sydney Harbour on Australia Day, next Wednesday, January 26. To find out more and enter... click here

James Squire Award
This week's James Squire Award goes to Cat McAlister, who tweets her life as a stream of consciousness, as it were, as @RealDeal_Cat.
We've decided to award the James Squire beer each week to a contributor to the oceanswims conversation. This could be a blobber, a twit, or someone who in any or some way makes a constructive and positive contribution to the on-going conversation amongst us all. It's left entirely to our discretion and our mood at the time.
