 Shelley Clark is like a daughter of Toowoon Bay. She's a local, in effect, hailing from just west of the Central Coast beaches, over closer to Gosford. Shelley won the 34km FINA World Cup Lake Memphramagog swim in Canada in August. You could swim against her at Toowoon Bay, over 1km or 2km. |

| Course |
Both courses run inside the very beautiful Toowoon Bay, either one lap or two around a circuit running from the beach inside the southern corner of the bay, past the southern reef to the northern reef, into the beach and back towards the start. It's a very pretty bay.
If there's any kind of wave running, the course provides a thrilling perspective on reef breaks, with a bit of undulation as you swim past the break, but in relative safety. |
| Conditions |
The reefs on either side of the mouth of Toowoon Bay provide a large degree of protection from nasty conditions from the sou'-east. A swell will roll into the bay, but it's relatively benign, crashing harmlessly and indolently onto the beach in the distance in the west.
Much of the swim is through gentle water, offering some rocky bottoms, plenty of sandy bottom, some sideways aspects on the break, but little in the way of shorebreak. The start and finish are on the southern beach inside the bay, which means the shorebreak is negligible.
This year, the event will be sterlingly marked with the oceanswims.com blow-up marker booeys. |

This is a lovely swim on a lovely beach. It's a sparklingly beautiful beach on a bright Sat'dy morning and a great way to start the weekend. Low key, but well worth doing. Nice water and a pleasant course. Toowoon Bay SLSC tries very hard to make your day a lot of fun.

Pre-race day entries can be made on-line (click link below) or by mail (download entry form below).
A new entry category this year, too: Family, which consists of four members of a direct family. They can enter together but swim in any of the events. You can work out which on the day. To enter the Family category, the head family members must enter online, choosing the Family option, then come back to this point and complete the Family Details form (click here). Please don't complete this form until you have entered online. On race day, each member of the family will be required, at the beach, to complete individual waivers.
