Course |
Clockwise circuit course around the bay at Avalon, starting in the northern corner, rushing out past the headland, south towards the southern headland, then back into the middle of the beach to finish.
Then up to the barbie! |
Conditions |
This is one of the best starts in Sydney: a glorious runout at the northern end of Avalon Beach, under the headland and over the weed wafting around the rocks, tickling your belly as you head seawards.
Get in close to the rocks, if you dare. It's a quick, express run to the first booee, then along the shark net south, then back in on an angle to the finish.s
With the runout, the break at the northern corner is not usually a problem. The only other break to negotiate is on the way in, and that's easier than negotiating it to get out. |

Eligibility |
Entrants are restricted to persons who have adequately trained for this event. Entry is at the discretion of the race
committee. Minimum age of 10 years to compete.
Check the rules in the entry form for full info, but please note that no flotation devices are allowed. The organisers stress that this includes wetsuits. |
