Course	Organisers say: "Leave the sandy foreshore of Shellharbour Boat Harbour heading through the boat harbour entrance, then swim out and north around Cowries headland, follow the foreshore to Cunji Rock Platform and onto main patrolled beach at North Shellharbour. Fine and mild autumn conditions prevail at this time of the year. Water temperatures are still favourable for swimmers, and wetsuits are not generally required." Separate "Fin division" and "Family entry" (2 parents + 2 children). Alternative course will be used if sea conditions are bad - South Shellharbour Beach. In this case, registration details remain the same.
Conditions	Start in Boat Harbour is sheltered, as you would expect. After you leave the harbour, however, you're in open sea with swell bouncing off the rock shelf until you reach North Shellharbour beach. You should keep a respectable distance between yourself and the rock platform, depending on the seas on race day. Fine and mild autumn conditions prevail at this time of the year. Water temperatures are still favourable for swimmers.
Years run, starters last time	Around 150 finishers last season. Last season saw windy and wet conditions, so peloton was depressed. 4th season for this swim.
Prizes, categories	10-year categories to 60+. Separate category for swimmers with fins. Participants will be eligible only for one category prize. Open Male & Open Female 1st $250 2nd $150 3rd $75 Age Groups – 1st, 2nd & 3rd in each age group Male/Female to receive prize. All entrants to receive sponsor promotional product and random draw prizes will be on offer. Let's have the Weekend on the NSW South Coast Series - Random draw prizes will also be awarded to those who complete both Shellharbour & are entered in Mollymook the next day, Sunday, April 19.

Family entry	The Shellharbour Ocean Swim offers Family entry for families of either or both parents and up to two of their school age children. To take Family entry, a responsible parent must enter online, selecting "Family entry", then return to complete the Family Details form (click here) to register other family members under that entry. This form must be lodged with the Registration id number obtained during the online entry process.

os.c says	We did this swim for the first time last season. Unfortunately, it was not a nice day in terms of the weather. But the Shellharbour organisers made everyone feel welcome and did an excellent job of running the swim in difficult conditions on the day. It's one of those swims where you're made to feel that the organisers love having you there. We'll be back this season, too, other things equal. Some other good aspects to this swim - It's run on a Saturday (good to have this option!), and it tic tacs with Mollymook, so punters looking for a pleasant weekend on the South Coast can do each swim on each day of the weekend: The Let's have the Weekend on the NSW South Coast Swim Series. It's a great time of year to swim in the country. It's an interesting course along the rock shelf, too, which plenty of reefs and consequent sea life to watch along the way.
